Case Study: Bug Battle iOS app

Sometimes it feels good to squash a bug or two.

We helped put pests in their place.

OUR THINKING

It didn’t take long to find a natural fit for this assignment: mobile gaming. THINK had previously developed mobile apps for Orkin, and found that their target audience was eager to go mobile with them. So we once again took that path, only this time we let our creative juices really flow.

THE CHALLENGE

Orkin wanted to bring a little levity and fun to their brand, and offer their customers something creative that they wouldn’t expect from the pest care company. Although their current “big bugs” campaign was working for them, they wanted to branch out and try something new digitally.

THE SOLUTION

We took the Orkin mantra, “put pests in their place,” and wove an iPhone/iPad app around it. Orkin Bug Battle is a delightfully cathartic, bug-squashing game that let’s users kill bugs in a variety of ways, from squashing and flicking them to blowing them off the screen.

Final Thoughts

The app exceeded total-program download goals after the first two weeks of being live in the iTunes App Store.
